virtual society

In this globalize world where the Internet and network communications are fundamental for us it is a great idea to provide wireless in a whole city. It is no question about that, but the Internet and the cyberspace are worlds with no control: an enormous rhizome of lines interconnected that form huge networks.
In this world, the identity has a new and different meaning. The individual has lost its own "real" personality, creating a new virtual one. With that new personality, people can make wherever they want, because there is no control in their cybernetic life, and they can change their self at any time. I have no idea how this new virtual society can be controlled and governed, but as a social situation it needs this control. Maybe it should be also a virtual control that works in the same cybernetic world, not in the "real" one.
The problem is that it is hard to know what it is the meaning of "virtual world". For instance, could a virtual economy work by its own without the support of real things? The cybernetic world needs the real one because people that form both worlds solve their primary needs on the Earth. Will be some day when the virtual one can live by it own?

juan, my point of view about the identity is that the human already lost their identity. We don't have time to be ourselves. Everything is going too fast and we are just following...just going...
In a Dictionary, the meaning of identity is " whatever makes an entity definable and recognizable, in terms of possessing a set of qualities or characteristics that distinguish it from entities of a different type".
I don't think that identity has a new meaning. I just think that the individual identity are lost. Nowadays, its possible to talk about mutations, tranformations and maybe group identity. We just have to assume this! :)
