question

A lot of topics are included in the word Architecture: function, shape, technique, mechanical, structure, culture, art, philosophy, buildings, human scale, views, light, spaces... Could be any of theses topics a rhizome?

demonstrate a rhizome

It is very common to remember something because of another thing has reminded you to remember that: an object, music, a painting... But this does not stop. It takes you to another idea, and this one to the next one, and at least you get (or not) to a main idea. Maybe it is absurd or product of causality, but you get it. The mind is never at rest. It is constantly seeking order and significance, testing the world for breaks in the habitual pattern. If you find some order and significance, it is probably you to get reasoning, and sometimes different views of the world. This is what creates a movement, and it is part of a culture.
Thoughts and culture have been transmitted generation by generation, and also between the diverse parts of the world. Every painting, book, building... every art-work at least, it is an object witch is interpreted by many people. Actually these interpretations create this rhizome. Each interpretation is a new idea that will create a new line in the rhizome. And as I showed it will create new lines that will be interconnected with other ones. These lines are mathematical lines, because they are logical. The perturbation in the rhizome begins when one line is not logical, and this line interconnects with some more lines.
This is precisely what creates culture and thoughts real rhizomes: they have errors. It is a rhizome of interconnected thinking lines, in witch you can begin in one of them, and finish in a completely different one, leaving your own line inside the huge rhizome.

discussion 1

In our globalized world, everything functions like a network. Everyone is connected to someone all over the world by hundred of different networks.
This thesis involves all kind of human arts and sciences, and of course architecture. The digital network, have changed mechanical techniques so quickly and in an enormous way in a few years. Buildings have had to assume these changes and solves in the right manner, with new plans and with engineering support.
Also connections inside the city are an architectural problem, and they are a kind of physical network. The communications of subway, streets, roads, etc. with the buildings, have been complicated since cities grow so fast, and the numbers of citizens increase from one year to the next one, with no control. These are very difficult concepts; because they have not happened yet, so is pretty complicate to advance what is going to happen.
This huge network world, with this amount of information, can not be known only by one person. So all those networks create a new one: architectural one. Nowadays is strange to see an architectural studio with only one person directing everything happen in a building. The most common thing is studios shaped by a group of people experimented in diverse subjects, so they can embrace all these concepts and networks.
